Sumo India recently celebrates its 15-year anniversary in style, as teams
from its two studios – Pune and Bangalore – gathered in The Secret Garden to mark the occasion with a spectacular event: SumoFest India!
The vibrant festival was a heartfelt thank you to the incredible team who
have been instrumental in helping the studios thrive and grow over the years. Guests enjoyed live music from a DJ and
local live band performances, as well as a selection of tasty food and drink
stalls to choose from.
People from both studios were joined by Darren Mills, Sumo Group Director of Excellence and
Integration and co-founder; Karen Mcloughlin, Sumo Group Director
of HR; and Stewart Neal, Sumo India’s Studio Director who all joined in on
celebrating this fantastic milestone in our history.
“As Sumo celebrated its 20 years, Sumo India celebrates
15 years in operations and its continued collaboration with Sumo Group’s
studios,” said Stewart Neal, Studio Director of Sumo India. “Throughout
this time, Sumo India has grown from an initial three people to a 170-person highly
skilled co-development team across studios in Pune and Bangalore, and across multiple
disciplines in art, engineering, design, QA, and production – not forgetting
our just as highly skilled support services across office management, IT, HR,
marketing, recruitment, and finance.
“During the 15 years, Sumo India has epitomised Sumo’s
culture of collaboration having supported and co-developed on nearly all titles
developed across Sumo Group including Sega Superstars Tennis, Sega All-Stars
Racing, Disney Infinity, the Forza Horizon and Forza Motorsport franchises, and
the HITMAN franchise – together with Snake Pass, Team Sonic Racing, Crackdown
3, Little Orpheus, Spyder, Hotshot Racing, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, Hood:
Outlaws & Legends, and the recently released The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
“We have supported in areas across art, environments and
props, vehicles and weapons, animation, characters, UI, engineering, AI
systems, tools and graphics, and also in design with level design, gameplay and
prototyping, and QA with compliance and functional and development testing.
“We look forward to further supporting and collaborating
with our fellow Sumo Studios on their projects, learning and sharing expertise,
and working as closely as possible to enable us to create our best work and
produce the best games we can.
“For those studios within the Sumo family that we have
not had the opportunity to collaborate with yet, we look forward to doing so in
the near future.”
