VARIETY & SECURITY

At Sumo Newcastle you could be working on anything from creating a new IP from scratch to delivering content for some of the biggest franchises in the industry – that’s what makes our studio so exciting and unique.

Normally such variety comes with uncertainty – but it’s our breadth and depth that makes us such a secure place to work.

We are part of the Sumo Digital group that encompasses 19 other studios across the UK and the world, working across all genres and platforms – so there is always interesting and challenging work available.

Flexible working

We’ve built our team around our cultural fit, which has given us a nice mix of highly experienced industry veterans and the superstars of tomorrow. This means there are plenty of creative minds and support to spur each other on.

We also want to build our studio culture and the feeling of being part of a tight-knit team even if we are not in the same location – so we offer and support remote and flexible working options.

Not your average benefits...

Five learning days per year, flexible hours, a day off for your birthday, and finish early on Fridays – no wonder we were ranked the UK’s 10th best large company to work for in 2023.

We work hard and play hard, with social activities driven by team preferences. In the past, we’ve done ghost walks, ghetto golf, meals, bad movie nights, and pub crawls. We organize monthly events and have two big annual parties: Sumo Summer and Christmas.

LIFE IN NEWCASTLE

Our studio is in a brand new state of the art facility right in the heart of the city with stunning views over the River Tyne.

Newcastle is well known as one of the friendliest cities in the world, and truly has something for everyone. There are shops, bars, restaurants, theatres, sports, and cinemas aplenty, and of course the world famous Newcastle night-life is right on your doorstep. And when you’re ready to calm down from all the excitement you can relax in Newcastle’s beautiful outdoor spaces, historic castles (including Hogwarts!) and several stunning beaches less than an hour’s drive away.
