The team at Lab42 are ready to enter the Eight Hells and feel the rhythm as publisher Funcom announces Metal: Hellsinger VR launches this autumn, and is now available to pre-order.

Lab42’s team of porting experts have been hard at work on bringing this beloved heavy metal rhythm shooter to burning new life in VR. The port will allow players to embody the demon within like never before, and feel the power of heaven and hell burning in their very hands as you aim a full arsenal of unique weaponry freely, including twin pistols, an explosive crossbow and a wicked blade.

Originally developed by The Outsiders and published by Funcom, Metal: Hellsinger sees players shoot, dash, and slay to the beat as fires of Hell pulsate in time around them. Let the rhythm of hell take over as you rampage through the full epic campaign to recover your stolen voice from the Red Judge of the Eight Hells.

A studio renowned for its exceptional porting work, Lab42 has previously worked on titles including Sonic Mania (mobile), A Little to the Left (console), Crusader Kings III (console) and Yakuza 0 (PC). Most recently, the studio did a deep dive into the fundamentals of porting, including what makes a good port, how they’re able to support partners in bringing games to new audiences and more.

Recently, UploadVR spoke with Lab42’s Game Designer Benjamin Culff and Producer Ollie Cullen about how they’re unleashing the game onto a brand-new platform, and their journey so far – you can read all about it here. The pair also took to the Devcom stage this summer to deliver a talk on opportunities to enhance IP by porting to VR, with a recording expected to be available later this year.

Metal: Hellsinger VR is now available to pre-order on Meta and PlayStation platforms, and all pre-orders will receive the Dream of the Beast DLC for free.

Metal: Hellsinger VR releases onto Meta Quest 2 & 3 on 26th September, and onto Meta Quest Pro, and arrives on Steam and PS VR 2 on 3rd October. More information can be found on the website.
