The team at The Chinese Room has raised over £3,000 for local youth homelessness charity The Clock Tower Sanctuary by walking 10 million steps in one month.
They paced around their homes and towns for 30 days to hit their goal, with a fundraising target of £2000 which they exceeded by more than 50%. Game Designer Manos Agionniotakis racked up the most steps in the month, clocking in at 485,637.
Ed Daly, Studio Director at The Chinese Room, said: “I’m so proud of our team and their fundraising efforts – it was great fun raising funds this way, and we got over the line with a Saturday walk on the Brighton seafront, that was also a chance for colleagues that have joined us over the last year to finally meet in person.”
“The Clock Tower Sanctuary is a charity we are delighted to support and does incredible work to support young people in Brighton and we’re so looking forward to continue our support.”
Frances Duncan, CEO of The Clock Tower Sanctuary, said: “The Chinese Room have done an amazing job raising £3,170 for The Clock Tower Sanctuary through their 10 million steps campaign. As the only day centre in Brighton & Hove for 16-25-year-olds who are homeless or insecurely housed, we rely on our fantastic community of supporters to keep our services running.
“During the Covid-19 pandemic, the young people we work with have needed us more than ever and the importance of having a safe place to call home has been very clear to us all. Thank you so much to everyone at The Chinese Room for clocking up those steps and helping us to deliver our vital work!”
The Clock Tower Sanctuary is a Brighton-based charity that works with young homeless people to give them space, support & stability. It provides a space for 16-to-25-year-olds who are homeless where they can feel safe and ‘just be’, whilst also getting access to services and support. The charity provides the everyday things that young homeless people need, like somewhere to shower, do laundry, eat a healthy meal, use computers and get post.
The Chinese Room teams have been busy! Not only have they done some incredible fundraising, but they also recently received an Apple Design Award win for side-scrolling adventure game Little Orpheus.
