Spyder is a unique “spy-on-the-wall” adventure where players take control of Agent 8, a tiny superspy equipped with gadgets to sabotage evil plans. Built for Apple Arcade, Spyder combines inventive puzzles with full 360-degree movement in richly detailed environments, offering console-quality gameplay on mobile devices.

The Ask

Sumo Digital partnered with Apple to create an original 3D puzzle-action game for mobile that delivered full 360-degree movement and intuitive controls without requiring a controller.
The game needed to maintain high visual fidelity across a wide range of Apple devices, and launched as one of the first titles on Apple Arcade, setting a benchmark for quality and innovation.

Technical Innovation

Developed complex pathfinding and camera systems to support unrestricted 360-degree movement. Created a bespoke solution blending inverse kinematics (IK) and animation for natural navigation in open 3D environments.

Led art direction, IP creation, and full game realization. Designed an intuitive UI/UX for smooth mobile gameplay.
