Overview
Sumo Digital was tasked with porting Bethesda’s critically acclaimed Fallout 4 game to a new audience on the Nintendo Switch 2 platform. Aside from taking advantage of the system’s portability while including all major expansions and a plethora of Creation Club content, the port uniquely gives the option to select from multiple framerates and supports DLSS.

The Ask
Sumo was asked to bring Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition to the new Nintendo Switch 2 platform.
Our Involvement
- Adaptation of proprietary engine libraries to new hardware platform.
- Rebuilt and modernised the graphics pipeline for the retired middleware UI system.
- Shader optimization for improved rendering efficiency and visual fidelity.
- Implementation of DLSS.
- Developed a modern build and test suite with FPS hotspot detection and smoke capability
- Added player-facing controls for selecting between 30, 40, and 60 frame rate targets which are each optimised to balance game performance and graphical quality.
