Sumo Digital welcome Ian Livingstone and Kats Sato

We are incredibly delighted to welcome both Ian Livingstone CBE and Kats Sato to the Sumo Digital team!

To many Ian Livingstone will probably require no introduction, known for his previous work with Eidos and seen as an influential figure throughout the industry. It is with great pleasure that we are able to announce that Ian has been appointed as our. non-executive Chairman.

We’re also thrilled to announce that Kats Sato has been appointed the role of Development Director, having joined us from Codemasters where he handled external development for numerous years. Kats brings with him over 20 years of experience in the industry, having started his career at SEGA of Japan in the early 90’s.

Carl Cavers, CEO of Sumo Digital, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Ian on board during this exciting time for Sumo, his experience will add tremendous value and will really help us to move forward with our strategic ambitions.Sumo2

Ian Livingstone CBE, said, “Sumo Digital is a studio packed with world-class talent which has developed some of the world’s best-selling video games. I look forward to working with Sumo to leverage the studio’s design expertise and technology to develop new titles and services.

Finally, a look towards the future. As many are aware, Sumo was founded on very humble beginnings. Starting with a team of 12 in 2003, Sumo has grown exponentially over the past 12 years allowing us to employ over 270 people across our Sheffield headquarters and our wholly owned art studio based in Pune, India. Now we look towards the next chapter. We would like to announce our plans to open a second UK studio due to be opened by the end of 2015. We have no further details to share just yet, but once we do, we’ll be sure to let the world know.

On that note, we just want to thank everyone for their continual support of Sumo Digital. Without it, we would never be where we are today.
