At Sumo, we’re massive advocates and proud supporters of game development education, because even as an industry, we’re continuously learning and growing. The skills that we empower the next generation of game developers with are becoming more crucial than ever as we strive to create the very best, innovative games possible. With that said, we all have to start somewhere and that’s why we’ve created our student placement program.
Every year, we open our doors to the brightest stars the games industry has to offer. We’re always on the lookout for students to join our team who are enthusiastic about what they do, able to inject their own sparks of passion into everything that they touch and are prepared to go all-in on everything they’re asked to accomplish.
In return, you can expect to work and contribute to real live projects, building features and worlds for some of our biggest AAA projects right from day one! You’ll have the opportunity to work alongside established teams and some of the brightest experts the industry has to offer, many of whom will be responsible for your on-the-job mentoring and personal development. There are no tea-monkeys around these parts! As a valued member of the team, you’ll have the same opportunities to provide your own contributions and add your own flair to a project soon to be enjoyed by millions.
Still sounding good? Then read on and check out the information below!
Our placements are open to all students that have the option of taking an industrial placement year as part of their course. Degrees in relevant fields will be preferred, but those that have the skills required will also be considered.
Placements will run from September 2018 – September 2019 and will be available at both our Sheffield and Nottingham studios. Applications from those looking for shorter undergraduate placements (20-40 weeks from February 2018) will also be considered. Please state clearly on your application the start and end dates required for your application.
Applications close on the 23rd of February 2018, so make sure you take some time to brush up that CV, polish that portfolio and make everything shine! We’re not expecting you to have years and years of experience (we all had to start somewhere), but we’re certainly expecting to see the very best you have to offer. Students worldwide are welcome to apply.
APPLICATIONS THAT DO NOT INCLUDE ALL OF THE REQUESTED MATERIALS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
