Rising Star 2016 – The search begins

Showcase your skills in Games Art or Coding and be in the chance of winning a job opportunity right here at Sumo!

The Search For A Star & Rising Star competitions are back again for 2016 and this time open to both coding students and games artists.Take part in one of the biggest industry-supported game dev competitions in the UK, showcasing your work in front of leading studios and getting a boost towards a career in games. We are also thrilled to announce that we are again joining Aardvark Swift on their search with our sponsorship of the Rising Star competition.

What is the Rising Star competition?

Rising Star is a variant of the Search For A Star competition, specifically designed for students who are not yet in their final year. The structure follows the same process and timeline as the Search For A Star competition, but with all entrants judged as a separate group.SFAS1

Prizes for finalists include amazing prize packages from our sponsors, with the grand prize for the winner being a guaranteed interview for an internship right here at Sumo Digital, one of the largest independent studios in the UK.

As with Search For A Star, the three stages of the competition have been deliberately designed by industry experts to mirror a typical recruitment process within the games industry, while also giving the students a chance to publish either their own video game or art assets!

By using this three stage process we are able to both teach the students how to correctly prepare themselves for employment as well as giving them a chance for their talents to be seen first-hand by some of the UK’s leading games studios.

For more information on the competition and a list of the full 3 step process, head over to the competition entry page
