Calling all university students: are you a university student in your second year? Does your university course require an industrial placement in your third year? So, what do we have on offer?
This year, we’re thrilled to be able bringing back our Programmer placement scheme, as well as announce the introduction of our brand new Game Artist placement scheme. Over the years we’ve had a ton of interest from budding young artists looking to make their own mark on the video game industry. It was because of these requests and the passion shown by the artistic community that we decided it was time to open the gates to those of you that prefer the pen and digital ink approach to the black and white of the coding world (yes, yes, we know coding has become much more colourful these days ;)).
Sumo’s Programmer placement is open to promising Games Programming /Development /Computer Science undergraduates at any UK university who require an industrial placement in their third year.
The scheme offers a fantastic opportunity for talented students who are committed to improving their skills by spending one year working as games programmers on our live projects. We value highly the contribution that exceptional, undergraduate raw talent can bring to our studio and many placement students have returned to work for us permanently after graduation.
Applicants must have a passion for games programming and be working towards a 1st classification in their studies with good examples of their own work in C++ to show.
We are delighted to announce our first ever Game Art placement scheme to run alongside our established and successful Programming placement scheme.

The scheme offers a fantastic opportunity for talented students to work on and contribute to our live AAA projects, while learning from our hugely talented team.
