5 things you need to know about Sumo Nottingham

20th Oct 2022 Studio Life

Since it was formed in 2016, Sumo Nottingham has had a hand in creating some fantastic games, has worked on iconic franchises such as Forza Horizon and currently has some incredible titles in the pipeline – including the upcoming The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

Outside of its legendary development portfolio, Sumo Nottingham is proud to be home to a fantastic team in a range of disciplines and is a huge fan of celebrating everything – from the big stuff to the small wins.

Here are five things you need to know about this powerhouse studio.

Family Values

Sumo Nottingham’s family-centric approach means not only is it able to support the working parents it employs, but it’s also able to provide a new family to juniors who have moved away from home to join the team. Offering a nurturing environment to all is a top priority for Nottingham, and it looks after its new starters from day one – collecting them from airports, bringing them to the studio for the first time and stocking the company apartment up with their favourite foods and home comforts.

Celebrating the Team

Sumo Nottingham lives by and is accountable for its studio values. That’s why twice a year, the studio sends a survey to the teams asking them to vote for their colleagues for the ‘Sumo Nottingham Values awards’. It’s a great opportunity for colleagues to share the love for their peers and each winner is rewarded with a personalised trophy and plenty of treats.

Foodie Foundations

Yep, Sumo Nottingham is a feeder! Following feedback from its teams, the studio is always on the lookout for ways to inspire its people through food. From Friday buffets in the studio, to delectable care packages through the post for the times they can’t be together in person. Studio Engagement Manager Karen Standard believes food has the power to bring people together in a shared experience, and loves any excuse to bring out the studio chocolate fountain…

Onwards and Upwards

Sumo Nottingham is keen to support you on your learning and development journey, and is incredibly passionate about offering its people the opportunity to level up in their career. Through personalised development programmes, dedicated pathways to get you to the next level and plenty of love and support for your goals – Sumo Nottingham works closely with its team to see them achieve and grow.

Open Door Policy

Sumo Nottingham believes that honesty is the best policy, and its open management structure always gives its teams full access to the studio management. Once a month, Studio Director Gary Edwards runs an Ask Me Anything where anyone can call or meet with him to ask anything on their mind. Nottingham also has a virtual suggestion box, opportunities to feedback on processes and the promise that they can talk to the leadership team in confidence whenever they’d like to.
