Summer 2016 GameJam!

4th July 2016Posted by: James Megretton

It’s time to kick off the summer with style, with the results of our Summer Game Jam!

It’s time for Round 3 of our internal Game Jam and this time we’re rocking those summer vibes! It’s been slightly hectic here for everyone at Sumo recently, with events like Twin Town 2016 and Brains Eden taking up our calendars, sometimes it’s just nice to take a bit of a breather and a soak up that summer…er…rain! Weather aside, the studio has been alight with creativity the past few weeks as teams across Sheffield and Nottingham toiled away on their Game Jam submissions.

After a lengthy judging process that the whole studio undertook, we do of course have a set of winners to announce,

Without further ado, our winners are;

Best Individual: Carl Dixon – Over and Out

Best Team: The Salty Dogs – Salty Dogs!!!

Most Original: Team TBD – Shape+Shift+Escape

And the OVERALL WINNER is… well, you might have guessed it from the picture above…

Shape+Shift+Escape!!! Many congratulations to Team TBD!

Although this is only our third internal Game Jam, we’ve seen the games on show get better and better.This time round it was honestly an extremely close race as we had a very strong showing from everyone who entered. These game jams definitely highlight our staff’s creativity and strengths, so it’s always a pleasure seeing the amazing talent on display. Thanks so much to all the teams and individuals who joined and everyone who came and voted!

There are plans afoot here at Sumo HQ on how we can get these games into your hands for YOUR verdict. We cannot wait to be able to share with you what we have in store, but for now, STAY TUNED!
